They Might Be Giants challenge: Day 3
How did you get into the band? As a kid, I’d hear their songs and jingles on TV a lot, like that stuff they wrote for Cartoon Network, and also the Particle Man and Istanbul videos. I would end up knowing someone who owned Severe Tire Damage, but I didn’t really recognize the band as really awesome until they’d won their Grammy for the Malcolm in the Middle song. My parents...

They Might Be Giants challenge: Day 2
Five Favorite Albums 1: John Henry Full band? Am I okay with this? Oh, the band has a horn section? Yeah, I’m okay with this. This album consistently impresses me, and it has a number of my absolute favorite songs.  2: They Might Be Giants Interchangeable with John Henry, frankly. I don’t want to say that all of the Giants’ best material was at the beginning of their career,...

They Might Be Giants challenge: Day 1
Five favorite songs: 1: A Self Called Nowhere Somehow John is able to sing in a Bostonian accent without making the song ridiculous. It’s dark and claustrophobic, but it’s also got the feeling of falling down stairs and into an abyss and it’s beyond awesome.  2: Doctor Worm Probably the song that cemented the opinion that this was my favorite band ever. The horn section is...

Random article’ing on Wikipedia and found the list of LGBT rights by state. Seriously disappointed that felons get protection from discrimination by the state, but gay people don’t.  (Also disappointed by the banding together of four terms to make them politically correct.)

I wrote this
I woke up this morning completely naked and writhing around in a pool of blood and shattered glass on the floor. The blood was mostly mine, but only some of it I had actually bled. The rest had come from vials of blood I had on the wall. I donate blood, I have a good type for that sort of thing. Type O negative. It has no receptors on it, the nurse says, so anyone can recieve it as a...

Lady Gaga to become the new face of Twinings Tea →
fuckyeahilovetea: lafreakcestchic: Are they FUCKING serious??? I do not want LADY GAGA on the box of my Chai Teabags!!!!!! Big mistake-o Twinings. What tea drinking professionals and grannys and me (clearly) would want to buy your tea with Lady Gaga sipping it on the front?  haha! I think if I could enjoy my tea with Lady Gaga on it, well, I’d be absolutely fine with that.

Maybe I Know
According to the Johns from a live show, they played “Maybe I Know” during one street performance in the 1980s. After the song finished, a woman approached them and said to them, “My grandmother wrote that song,” and gave them $20. The Johns then stopped playing, and bought lunch with the $20. That is awesome beyond words.

a true story
fouroftwo: One time Brittany and I played a drinking game to Tarzan called “drink every time you hate Phil Collins” and we died of alcohol poisoning before the movie ended. Unfortunately, playing this game with breaths instead of drinks is the only way I stay alive. I hate Collins all the time. But when I hold my breath, I think of “In the Air Tonight.”
